Dr. Michael Saso is a board-certified specialist in dental anaesthesia with over 35 years of experience in practice and teaching.
He graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1987, then completed a hospital internship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He earned his Diploma in Dental Anaesthesia from the University of Toronto in 1990.
Professional work
For 30 years, Dr. Saso ran a well-known practice in Ottawa, treating adult patients who needed help managing complex pain and anxiety. Alongside his clinical work, he has a strong interest in teaching and has given talks across Canada for the Ontario Dental Association and other organizations on topics like local anaesthesia, sedation methods, handling medical emergencies, and reviewing patients' full medical history.
At Bloor-Yorkville Periodontics, Dr. Saso provides in-office dental anaesthesia and sedation for patients undergoing periodontal and implant treatment. He assesses each patient's medical history and anxiety level, then tailors the level of sedation to the procedure, so that longer or more involved surgeries such as implant placement, bone grafting, and complex extractions can be completed comfortably. This allows patients with dental anxiety, difficult freezing, or significant medical considerations to receive the care they need.
