Academics
Dr. Katsaros graduated with his dental degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2008. He served in the Greek army from 2002 to 2013 and practiced general dentistry in military hospitals and private practices for 5 years before moving to the United States in 2013.
In June 2016, he earned his certificate in periodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, School of Dentistry, in New Orleans.
After graduating, he joined the University of Iowa College of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics, where he ran the post-graduate program. He has written or co-written several articles in peer-reviewed journals, along with two textbook chapters.
Professional work
Dr. Katsaros is a board-certified periodontist in both Canada and the United States.
In 2020, he moved from academia into full-time private practice, serving Toronto and the surrounding area. He works as an examiner for the periodontics specialty exam at the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Canada. He has also reviewed articles for several scientific journals, including the Journal of Periodontology, the International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry, and Clinical Advances in Periodontics.
At Bloor Yorkville Periodontics, he provides specialized care for patients dealing with gum disease, recession, and missing teeth, from periodontal therapy and soft tissue grafting to dental implant placement. His academic background shapes how he practices, with treatment planning grounded in current evidence and clear explanations at every step so patients understand their options before moving forward.
